I sat down tonight and painted this watercolor in my sketchbook. I scanned it as the original full color piece, then saved it in grayscale and finally colored the grayscale version in photoshop.
I would be happy to hear which version is your favorite and why. I love working traditionally but I enjoy the look of the digital color over b&w wash.

Really like the black & white. Brings a completely different emotion (sullen) than the color. Really speaks to the power of color (or lack thereof)
ReplyDeleteDitto on the greyscale, but when it comes down to the color pieces - sorry to be of no help - they are equally admirable. The PSD'd file looks like a 50s era printed illustration, and that sure is cool. I like the original watercolor, but prefer the limited color palette of the PSD version. The primary colors in the original do diffuse my focus a bit. I think the PSD version carries a more melancholy vibe.
