Watercolor...Traditional? Digital?

I sat down tonight and painted this watercolor in my sketchbook. I scanned it as the original full color piece, then saved it in grayscale and finally colored the grayscale version in photoshop.

I would be happy to hear which version is your favorite and why.  I love working traditionally but I enjoy the look of the digital color over b&w wash.

  1. Really like the black & white. Brings a completely different emotion (sullen) than the color. Really speaks to the power of color (or lack thereof)

  2. Ditto on the greyscale, but when it comes down to the color pieces - sorry to be of no help - they are equally admirable. The PSD'd file looks like a 50s era printed illustration, and that sure is cool. I like the original watercolor, but prefer the limited color palette of the PSD version. The primary colors in the original do diffuse my focus a bit. I think the PSD version carries a more melancholy vibe.
