Wilmington, NC

Well, we have been in Wilmington almost a month and we are really digging it. Love the beach being a mere five minute drive away. We're still getting settled and are looking to buy some new furniture this coming week,
I am currently working on several assignments so I am keeping very busy and am also looking forward to painting outdoors again. The patio area of our new home is perfect for it.

Comics

I am starting to post my comic "24th Street Stories" on my altpick site www.altpick.com/markweber It will be a collection of stories and observations of my time growing up in Erie, Pennsylvania and takes place mainly in the 60s and 70s.
I jumped into this on a whim in a way even though it has been jumbling around in my head off and on over the past few years. At this point I am simply drawing and writing the comics as they pop into my head keeping the panels to a minimum. I imagine some stories will be longer but I do like the one page format which you can see in both "The Popcorn Man" and "Knob & Loretta" on the altpick site.

I need to work out some quirks as I see they are a bit hard to read.
I would like to post them on a proper "comics only" website eventually and need to look into it. If anyone has any info on this please let me know.

Spring Inspiration

Great Trip to Wilmington,NC last week. Beautiful weather, good times w/ family and saw a great show at the Berkley Cafe in Raleigh. The South Memphis String Band featuring Jimbo Mathus, Luther Dickinson and Alvin Youngblood Hart. It's been awhile since I have had a chance to catch some good live music and we were not disappointed.

Buds are blooming, music is booming and the easel is awaiting. The inspiration of Spring is kicking in!!

North Carolina

Made the trip down to Wilmington, NC to spend Easter weekend plus a few more days w/ family. Beautiful weather and looking forward to a day at the beach. First I have a short
business meeting to take care of. I might have a few outlets for my fine art down here.

This area experienced a great surge of growth during the 90s into the early 00s and is sure to pick up again. Fantastic port city which we want to be a part of.

Sundays, Painting & Hockey

Sundays...YES! I will be pulling out the French easel in a bit to start painting a floral
for which I am commissioned.
USA vs Canada on at 3pm. Should be a great game.

I better get moving...it's so easy to get caught up in this Sunday morning mellowness.
Time to get outside into the fresh air!

Snow..this 'n that

I don't "hate" snow. It's just that I personally enjoy the warmer months.
This winter makes me feel like I am back in Erie, PA. However, winter in Erie is a lot more fun than in South Jersey for multiple reasons.
1. People know how to drive in the snow in Erie
2. They plow the roads better in Erie
3. Residents in Erie don't run to the store to stock up on food like a vast plague is upon them.
4. They don't close schools because the forecast calls for 5 inches of snow.

Of course to be fair to NJ, it's winter 8 months out of the year in Erie so they have a ton of practice.

Just got back from taking Jack, our Husky for a walk. Jack's getting up there...12 years old so he walks a bit slow these days. However, when dinner time comes he reverts back to a puppy again and camps out under the dinner table hoping to grab any stray droppings.

Worked for a good part of the day but hit the wall around 1pm. I have a hard time working on my commercial work during the weekend. Unless a deadline is breathing down my neck I would much rather spend the weekends painting or working on personal projects.
I am getting together with my fellow musician buddies tonight. I am happy to be playing much more acoustic lately and am hoping we can get some gigs lined up soon.
