Inspiration / Two New Pieces

In December of last year I moved my studio into ACME Art Studios here in Wilmington, NC.
ACME provides studio spaces for 22 artists who work in a variety of mediums and styles. Painters
have studios next sculptures, a paper artist across the hall from a photographer etc., etc.,

One artist with whom I felt an immediate common thread with was Karen Paden Crouch.
Her sculptures seemed to share various influences I draw from, primarily early turn of the century
children's book illustrators such as Rackham, HJ Ford and others.
In November of this year Karen and I will be featuring works which play off of each other.
This is a little preview...two works on paper I did this week. The images are inspired by Karen's
work. More of her work can be seen at www.karenpadencrouch.com

These are done in ink, watercolor, graphite and gesso. I have also included a b&w version as well as versions I colored in photoshop using simple screens. Please click to enlarge.
